Your compassion lives on

What kind of world do you want your children and grandchildren to inherit? Would you like them to be able to experience the wonder of wildlife in its natural habitat? And to enjoy the unique landscapes, rich biodiversity and fragile ecosystems that South Africa has to offer?

Your legacy can make a lasting difference in the protection and care of wildlife, ensuring this inheritance is a reality. By making a bequest to CROW, you help fund the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of countless animals and birds back into the wild. Your support can also sustain vital education and awareness programs, ensuring that future generations understand the importance of preserving South Africa’s natural heritage. Together, we can safeguard the beauty and diversity of our wildlife for years to come.

why it is important

Sustained impact on wildlife conservation

Your bequest ensures that CROW can continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured, orphaned, and endangered wildlife long after your lifetime.

Supporting critical infrastructure

Donations through bequests help CROW develop and maintain vital resources, such as enclosures, rescue vehicles, and medical facilities.

Education and  outreach

Bequests enable CROW to expand its educational programmes, fostering awareness and encouraging communities to protect local wildlife and habitats.

Leaving a personal legacy

Your contribution creates a meaningful way to honour your values and passion for nature. It inspires others to follow your example, amplifying your impact.

why bequests matter for crow

CROW receives no government or municipal funding. We are completely reliant on donations to keep our doors open.

Historically over 60% of CROW’s donations have come from bequests and therefore are vital. They provide long-term support for operational costs and essential resources like medical supplies, enclosures, and transport. It also funds educational outreach to raise awareness about protecting biodiversity, ensuring a lasting impact on wildlife and ecosystems.

CROW is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), which qualifies it to issue Section 18A tax certificates for tax-deductible donations. This means your contributions to CROW not only support wildlife rehabilitation but also provide you with potential tax benefits. Donations to CROW are exempt from estate duty.

how your bequest will be used

You may designate your bequest to a particular programme or need, ensuring your contribution aligns with your own conservation interests, while making a meaningful impact in our mission. We have several categories where CROW is always in need of funding:

Operational costs (e.g. veterinary and medical costs)
H-Block-repairs
Enclosure upgrades and equipment maintenance
Environmental education and outreach
Medical equipment and supplies
rescue and release vehicle
Rescue and release vehicles

financial management and transparency

CROW’s funds are overseen by the Executive Committee and Operations Director, who report to the Board of Trustees. All transactions require dual authorization, and restricted donations are managed in dedicated accounts with detailed expenditure records accessible to donors. CROW is audited annually by CC Steyn, with AGM reports and audited financials available upon request.
