Vervet Monkeys

Meet our primate family: Willemina, Fredrik, Marie, Johan, Jan, Trompie, Pieter, Josef, Gert, Levinia, Nina, and Leja. Each of these little ones has a heartbreaking story, some were abandoned by their mothers, some were injured after being hit by cars, others were found alone on roadsides and some were orphaned. They were previously cared for by our dedicated primate nurse, Liz, in her home due to night feeds, and have now moved into our primate nursery where they are settling into their new environment. In the coming months, we will be introducing an adult female vervet who could not be reintegrated into her original troop. She will join this group as their adopted mother, helping to guide, nurture and protect them as they grow.
